A total of 36 posts are proposed for abolishment in the support account as follows.
Two Human Resource Assistant positions(Field Service) are proposed for abolishment.
Seven temporary posts are proposed for abolishment as at 1 January 2014 3 P-4, 2 P-3 and 2 General Service Other level.
As a result, 352 temporary international and national positions(including United Nations Volunteers) are proposed for abolishment for the 2012/13 period.

VIII.135 Twenty-two posts(1 P-2, 1 General Service(Principal level) and 20 General Service(Other level)) are proposed for abolishment under the section, including one P-2 post under subprogramme 7 and one General Service(Principal level) post under subprogramme 4.
In light of the recent strategic review and the military capability study, the Force is not expecting any increase in the military component, andtherefore all three(3) Language Assistant posts(national General Service), which have been vacant since prior to 1 July 2010, are proposed for abolishment in the 2013/14 period.
From table 20.7 of the budget fascicle(A/68/6(Sect. 20)),the Advisory Committee notes that three posts are proposed for abolishment owing to increased resource efficiency through new working methods and greater synergies between different thematic areas.

Accordingly, a total of 92 posts and positions are proposed for abolishment in the 2012/13 budget, comprising 45 international and 39 national General Service posts, 1 National Officer post and 7 United Nations Volunteer positions, including 16 international and 6 national posts in the Security Section and 3 international and 1 national post in the Conduct and Discipline Team.
The outcome of the review has led to an internal exercise to(a)reduce the overall level of resources(4 posts are proposed for abolishment) and(b) redeploy and reassign responsibilities and resources, within the existing resources of the Secretariat, to implement improvements to the budgetary process at Headquarters with respect to peacekeeping operations.
A total of 209 national General Service posts of language assistant are proposed for abolishment, as a result of expected efficiencies derived from the pooling of human resources for language assistant services for use by all substantive offices under the Training Section in the Office of the Deputy Director of Mission Support.
