On 30 September, the Coordinator met in Vienna with Ambassador Said Hassan al-Musawi, Director of the International Organizations and Conferences Directorate at the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and raised, inter alia, the issue of repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains.
On 8 March 2002, the Coordinator met with Rolf Knutsson, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Compensation Commission, who informed him that any information relevant for inclusion in future reports on the return of all Kuwaiti property would be transmitted to the Coordinator. .
On 14 January, the Coordinator met in Jeddah with the Secretary-General of OIC, Abdelouahed Belkeziz, who expressed his full support for the resumed activities of the Technical Subcommittee and the Coordinator and reiterated his appeal to the parties concerned to cooperate in a serious and constructive manner.
It will be recalled that, on 30 September, the Coordinator met in Vienna with Ambassador Said Hassan al-Musawi, Director of the International Organizations and Conferences Directorate at the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs(see para. 25 above), who informed him that"Iraq had several truckloads of documents ready to be handed over.
Later that day, the Coordinator met with the Deputy Chairman of the Kuwaiti National Committee for Missing Persons and Prisoners of War Affairs, who expressed his appreciation for the cooperation that the Committee had received from the Coalition Provisional Authority and Iraqi officials appointed by the Authority in determining the fate of missing persons and prisoners of war.
On 23 October, the Coordinator met with Mr. Arnold Luethold, Deputy Head of the International Organizations Division, and Mr. Eddy Abegg, Deputy Head of Operations for the Middle East and North Africa of the ICRC in Geneva and reiterated the important role of the ICRC on the issue of repatriation and return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals and their remains and expressed hope for positive results.
To assist countries with reporting,this year the Coordinator met with several countries that recently became a party to Protocol V, or had not submitted a national report or were considering joining Protocol V. The meetings were an opportunity to explain what was required under each form of the national reporting form and the assistance provided by the Guide to National Reporting.
