Mr. Cumberbach Miguén(Cuba)(spoke in Spanish): Before the General Assembly takes action on the draft resolution before it, my delegation wishes to state its position on the document that is to be adopted as programme 19 of the strategic framework for the biennium 2006-2007.

Mr. Cumberbach Miguén(Cuba)(spoke in Spanish): My delegation would like to draw attention to the fact that the delegation of Egypt should appear among the sponsors of draft resolution XI; the following delegations should appear as sponsors of draft resolution XX: Barbados, Benin, Cambodia, Egypt, Gabon, Papua New Guinea and Turkmenistan.
Mr. Cumberbach Miguén(Cuba) announced that the Cuban delegation would vote in favour of the adjournment motion, in keeping with its policy of support for the African nations, since country-specific draft resolutions were of little use, and could only aggravate the confrontation between developed and third-world countries on the issue of human rights.
Mr. Cumberbach(Cuba), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, El Salvador, Eritrea, the Gambia, Kenya, Madagascar, the Russian Federation, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, the Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia and Uzbekistan, said that the text had been updated to reflect the resolution adopted by the Commission on Human Rights.
