Fifteen years ago Syria declared that the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace was its strategic choice.
Syria's position in this respect stems from its desire to continue with the peace process and to achieve the objectives of that process,namely the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

Regarding the ninth preambular paragraph,we would like to stress once again that the complete withdrawal of Israel from all occupied Arab territories and the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace, in accordance with the principlesand the mandate of the Madrid Conference and the principle of land for peace, is the only way to enable the people of the region to live in peace within secure and internationally recognized borders.
We support the Syrian position calling for the resumption of the negotiations with the current Israeli Government from where they ended with the previous Israeli Government, based on full and complete Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan to the boundaries prior to 4 June 1967,with the concomitant mutual obligations to guarantee the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace between Syriaand Israel and in the region at large.

The Syrian Arab Republic, which supports Lebanon and believes in the unity of its people, its sovereignty and its territorial integrity, regardless of whatever fallacies, misrepresentations and outright lies might be contained in Mr. Roed-Larsen's report, reaffirms that the solution to all these problems will come with Israel's implementation of the resolutions constituting international legitimacy on the Arab-Israeli conflict,its withdrawal from all occupied Arab lands and the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
