Ensure access of women to all areas of political and public life,including at high levels of decision-making;
The Committee urges the State party to take measures to increase the representation of women in elected and appointed bodies through, inter alia, the implementation of temporary special measures, in accordance with article 4, paragraph 1, of the Convention, in order to realize women's right to participation in all areas of public andpolitical life and, particularly, at high levels of decision-making.
It must therefore be noted that the recommendation made to the Government of Ukraine by CEDAW that it should implement"temporary special measures… in order torealize women's right to participation in all areas of public life and, particularly, at high levels of decision-making" was not acted upon, despite the efforts made both by the State and by civil society.
The Committee recommends that the Government make use of affirmative action and temporary special measures in accordance with article 4, paragraph 1,of the Convention to realize women's right to participation in all areas of public life and particularly at high levels of decision-making.
Furthermore, non-governmental organizations(NGOs)had recently carried out research on the representation of women at high levels of decision-making.
