UNEP is currently supporting 39 countries in the preparation of their national communications.

Action: The SBI may wish to take note of the information and recommendations contained in the report of the workshop andto provide guidance for the future work of the secretariat in facilitating assistance to non-Annex I Parties in the preparation of their national communications.
The SBI, after having considered this report, may wish to provide additional guidance to the CGE on the implementation of its mandate relating to the provision of technical assistance to non-Annex I Parties in the preparation of their national communications and on its work programme for 2012.
It also recommended that the COP, at its sixteenth session,request the GEF to ensure that the expedited process under the operational procedures continues to provide a timely disbursement of funds to non-Annex I Parties for the preparation of their national communications.
The SBI may also wish to provide any further guidance regarding the work to be undertaken by the secretariat on facilitating assistance to non-Annex I Parties in the preparation of their national communications.
Action: The SBI may wish to take note of the above-mentioned documents andto provide further guidance to the secretariat on facilitating assistance to non-Annex I Parties in the preparation of their national communications.
To assist the PICs in improving the preparation of project proposals contained in national communications and in accessing financial andtechnical support for the preparation of their national communications.
In his remarks, the newly elected Chair of the CGE recognized the work done by his predecessor andexpressed his appreciation for the work of the CGE in the fulfilment of its mandate of assisting non-Annex I Parties in the preparation of their national communications.
The SBI, having considered this report, may wish to take note of the recommendations made by the workshop participants andprovide further guidance to the CGE on the provision of technical assistance to non-Annex I Parties in the preparation of their national communications.
