The PRESIDENT: I thank the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on a Nuclear Test Ban for the presentation of his report and, as you suggested, at our next plenary meeting tomorrow on 7 September, we will take up this report for adoption and it is my understanding that this will be done on the basis of the English text.
I should also like to thank the Secretary-General for his unwavering commitment and for his presentation of his report(A/63/677) on the responsibility to protect earlier this week.
Mr. Lallah(Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar)said that following the presentation of his report(A/51/466) to the Committee in November 1996, the Permanent Representativeof Myanmar had expressed disagreement with the assessment of the situation given in the report. .
The sole purpose of the Secretary-General's proposal at this stage is to provide a suitable framework for the presentation of his report to the Assembly at its fifty-first session and its integrated consideration at the fifty-second session.
