The International Workshop on Integrated Transboundary Water Resources Management in SEE was jointly organized by the Regional Cooperation Council(RCC) and UNECE in cooperation with the Global Water Partnership Mediterranean(GWP-Med) and the International Sava River Basin Commission.
Many speakers also mentioned the growing challenge posed by climate change impacts to transboundary water resources management and to water-related sectors, which made the activities of the Convention to support joint adaptation to climate change in transboundary basins of high and growing relevance.
Examples include strategic guidance on integrated management of transboundary water resources; management of transboundary groundwaters in the UNECE region, including groundwater-dependent ecosystems; the implementation of the UNECE Rules on Payments for Ecosystem Services in Integrated Water Resources Management; and National Policy Dialogues in EECCA countries.
Furthermore, it was agreed that the first subregional workshop on transboundary water resources management in South-Eastern Europe(SEE) would be held in Sarajevo(18- 20 May 2009) and would be jointly organized by the Regional Cooperation Council(RCC) and UNECE in cooperation with the Global Water Partnership Mediterranean(GWP-Med) and the International Sava River Basin Commission Sava Commission.
