It was observed that ECLAC played a key role in the implementation of the internationally agreed development goals of the Millennium Declaration.

At the 2005 World Summit,world leaders committed themselves to the full and timely implementation of the internationally agreed development goals, recognizing that the Millennium Development Goals can be effectively achieved only if pursued in conjunction with the outcomes of the major United Nations conferences and summits.
Based on the foregoing, the following points are presented to the General Assembly in the framework of strengthening social development andgiving due consideration to a people-centred approach in the implementation of the internationally agreed development goals, including the United Nations Millennium Declaration and the 2005 World Summit Outcome.
