If recovery of data of even longer time periods is useful in certain applications then derivingtrend values from the real-time measurement values in the smart sensors 3, 4, 5 is advantageous, because the storage. requirements for trend values are again far smaller than for the derived values themselves(e.g. factor of 10 to 100 depending on the trend resolution provided).
