Davit Harutyunyan met with PACE President.
President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe(PACE) Jean-Claude Mignon met with Davit Harutyunyan, the head of the Armenian delegation to PACE.
Davit Harutyunyan highly appreciated the co-operation with the Council of Europe and attached importance to the effective process of the programmes being jointly implemented.
Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Natalia Voutova congratulated Davit Harutyunyan on being appointed Minister of Justice and expressed willingness for deepening of the co-operation.
Davit Harutyunyan also informed the deputies that according to the decision, the sittings of the Committee would be closed, except the cases designed by the decision of the Committee.
In answer to Armenpress' question whether the activity of the Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh set up under PACE resolution was referred, Davit Harutyunyan called on to remove the expression"Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh Issue" from the Armenian lexicon.
Davit Harutyunyan also touched upon the reforms in the notary sector and noted that, by using the potential of notaries, activities will be carried out for reduction of the number of cases brought to the court.
Alexander Guessel also inquired the Minister about the reforms implemented in the penitentiary sector,in the answer to which Davit Harutyunyan underlined the activities carried out in 3 directions- improvement of healthcare services, elaboration of projects aimed at construction of new penitentiary establishments and development of the Probation service.
Minister Davit Harutyunyan welcomed the convening of the regular session of the Steering Committee and touched upon the background and goals of the Agreement signed in 2015, as well as focal areas stipulated in the Agreement.
