This is equally true in the economic and social sphere, and with regard to the constant modernizationand honing of democratic institutions, governance, control of the exercise of political power, full and absolute respect for human rights and the daily exercise of such rights and obligations on the part both of those who govern and of those who are governed.
Welcoming the participation, in the capacity of observer,of those Non-Self-Governing Territories that are associate members of the regional commissions in world conferences in the economic and social sphere, subject to the rules of procedure of the General Assemblyand in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and decisions, including resolutions and decisions of the Assembly and the Special Committee on specific Territories.
The magnitude and urgency of the challenges facing us in the economic and social sphere require the support of all Member States in order to realize the aspirations of those who cry out for a more equitableand just world, in which poverty eradication and the promotion of development are a genuine expression of international peace and stability.
