On 22 June, the Council heard a report by the Secretary-General's high-level coordinator, Gennady Tarasov, concerning missing Kuwaiti persons and property.
I appointed Ambassador Gennady Tarasov of the Russian Federation as the High-level Coordinator in April 2008.
In addition, my High-level Coordinator for compliance by Iraq with its obligations pursuant to resolution 1284(1999), Gennady Tarasov, continued his efforts aimed at the implementation of his mandate.

Most recently, we proposed a programme of work,a copy of which was transmitted on 1 April 2010 to the High-level Coordinator, Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, with a view to concluding this humanitarian issue, which has persisted for two decades.

During his visit to Kuwait from 11 to 15 January 2010, my High-level Coordinator, Gennady Tarasov, reiterated to Iraqi and Kuwaiti officials the need to achieve practical results in this regard.
On 10 December, Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, the Secretary-General's High-level Coordinator for missing Kuwaitis and third-country citizens and missing Kuwaiti property, briefed the Security Council in consultations of the whole, presenting the Secretary-General's report on the issue S/2008/761.
In the context of his mandate, my High-level Coordinator on the issue of the repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti andthird-country nationals or their remains, Gennady Tarasov, visited Kuwait in April and Iraq and Kuwait in May to hold consultations with the Iraqi and Kuwaiti authorities as well as other stakeholders.

On 25 June, the Council received a briefing from the High-level Coordinator, Gennady Tarasov, on the twenty-sixth report of the Secretary-General in accordance with paragraph 14 of resolution 1284(1999) S/2008/405.
Expressing its deep appreciation to the late Mr. Yuli Vorontsov and to Mr. Gennady Tarasov, who, in the capacity of High-level Coordinator, devoted their time and professional skills to carrying out the mandate outlined in paragraph 14 of resolution 1284(1999) and ensuring that its implementation built trust between Iraq and Kuwait and contributed to the full normalization of their relations.
Throughout the reporting period, the High-level Coordinator, Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, focused on the task of building the momentum towards the implementation of the goals set out in paragraph 14 of resolution 1284 1999.
Kuwait appreciates the great efforts made by the High-level Coordinator, Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, to fulfil his mandate under paragraph 14 of Security Council resolution 1284(1999) and wishes him all success in the responsibilities that he will take on.
