At its 96th plenary meeting, on 10 May 2000, the General Assembly appointed Doris Bertrand-Muck(Austria),Ion Gorita(Romania), Wolfgang Münch(Germany) and Louis-Dominique Ouedraogo(Burkina Faso) for a term of office beginning on 1 January 2001 and ending on 31 December 2005.

Mr. Gorita(Romania) said that, in the past seven years, his country had participated in various peacekeeping missions by providing troops, staff officers, military police, military observers and field hospitals.
As indicated in paragraph 3 of the note by the Secretary-General(A/59/108) of 26 April 2004, the General Assembly is required, during its current session, to appoint four members of the Joint Inspection Unit to fill the vacancies that will arise from the expiration of the terms of office of Ms. Doris Bertrand-Muck,Mr. Ion Gorita, Mr. Wolfgang Münch and Mr. Louis-Dominique Ouédraogo on 31 December 2005.
