The decision to undertake revisions of ICCS will depend upon a number of indicators derived from lessons learned during the implementation phase, such as results of the United Nations Survey on Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems in terms of the capacities of countries to provide data complying with ICCS,the technical advice provided by the Expert Group on International Statistical Classifications and the feedback received from national representatives.
At its 6th meeting, on 1 March, the Commission took note of the report of the Secretary-General on international statistical classifications(E/CN.3/2013/28), adopted the structures of the Central Product Classification, version 2.1, which it had before it and recommended that the classifications be recognized as the international standard for product classifications see chap. I, sect. C, decision 44/116.
The results of the consultation have been collated anda final draft is being prepared for discussion by the Expert Group on International Statistical Classifications at its 2015 meeting.
Another principal area of work for this subprogramme will be to continue to develop regional statistics and promote international statistical classifications, standards and systems, including gender statistics.
