On the issue of the provision of adequate compensation in the present case,the State party recalls that the family was provided with 200,000 Nepalese rupees as an interim relief.

On the issue of compensation andthe State party's submission that the Government has provided the author with"immediate relief" of 200,000 Nepalese rupees, the author stated that it would not amount to the"adequate" compensation required by the Committee.
At the admissibility stage, the State party contended that the Compensation relating to Torture Act 1996,which provided for a maximum compensation of 100,000 Nepalese rupees, offered a legal remedy in cases of torture and claimed that the author had not availed himself of this mechanism.
