Very common(more than 1 in every 10 patients) side effects are:• skin rash, itching and redness(pruritus and erythaema);• an increase in the thickness in the mouth or tongue;• change in colour of the mouth or tongue;• generalised swelling(oedema);• pain;• fever;• aching joints(arthralgia);and• altered taste.

For example, in a trial of high-dose adjuvant IntronA treatment in patients with melanoma, incidences of fatigue, fever, myalgia, neutropaenia/anaemia, anorexia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, chills, flu- like symptoms, depression,alopecia, altered taste, and dizziness were greater than in the hepatitis C trials.
