EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan recently told EURACTIV Romania that from now on, member states and not the European Commission will direct the precise support and funding for innovation and digitisation of farming.
The four InvestEU Fund policy areas place emphasis on areas of strategic importance for the EU, with €11.25 billion of the guarantee earmarked for small businesses and a further €11.25 billion earmarked for research, innovation and digitisation.
Fostering knowledge, innovation and digitisation in the agricultural sector;
EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan recentlytold EURACTIV Romania that from now on, member states and not the European Commission will direct the precise support and funding for innovation and digitisation of farming.
(c) at least 35% of the investment under the research, innovation and digitisation policy window contribute to Horizon Europe Objectives;
(9) The policy objectives of this Programme will also be addressed as eligible areas for financing and investment operations through financial instruments and budgetary guarantee of the InvestEU Fund,in particular under its sustainable infrastructure and research, innovation and digitisation policy windows.
Data is often considered as a catalyst for economic growth, innovation and digitisation across all economic sectors, particularly for SMEs(and start-ups) and for society as a whole.
According to the Commission, the InvestEU will be market-driven and will focus on four main policy areas:(i)sustainable infrastructure,(ii) research, innovation and digitisation,(iii) SMEsand small mid-cap companies and(iv) social investment and skills.
(b) research, innovation and digitisation policy window: comprises researchand innovation activities, transfer of research results to the market, demonstration and deployment of innovative solutions and support to scaling up of innovative companies other than SMEs as well as digitisation of Union industry;
The communication‘A Digital Single Market Strategy for Europe'(3)highlights the importance of data dissemination as a catalyst for economic growth, innovation and digitisation across all economic sectors, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises(and start-ups) and for society as a whole.
(b) to support financing and investment operations in research, innovation and digitisation in all policy windows, including support for the upscaling of innovative companies and bringing technologies to market;
The Paper also concentrates on the horizontal enablers, which need to underpin the sustainability transition, including education, science, technology,research, innovation and digitisation; finance, pricing, taxation and competition; responsible business conduct, corporate social responsibility and new business models; open and rules-based trade; governance and policy coherence at all levels.
(b) to support financing and investment operations in research, innovation and digitisation in all policy windows, including support for the upscaling of innovative companies and bringing technologies to market;
(5) The InvestEU Fund should contribute to improving the competitiveness of the Union,including in the field of sustainable infrastructure, innovation and digitisation, the sustainability of the Union's economic growth, the social resilience and inclusiveness and the integration of the Union capital markets, including solutions addressing their fragmentation and diversifying sources of financing for the Union enterprises.
(5) The InvestEU Fund should contribute to improving the competitiveness of the Union,including in the field of innovation and digitisation, scientific excellence, the sustainability of the Union's economic growth, advancing technologies and innovations combatting climate change, the social resilience and inclusiveness and the integration of the Union capital markets, including solutions addressing their fragmentation and diversifying sources of financing for the Union enterprises.
(5) The InvestEU Fund should contribute to improving thecompetitiveness of the Union, including in the field of innovation and digitisation, advancing technologies and innovations combatting climate change, the sustainability of the Union's economic growth, the social resilience and inclusiveness and the integration of the Union capital markets, including solutions addressing their fragmentation and diversifying sources of financing for the Union enterprises.
The European Commission has renewed its Industrial Policy Strategy which aims to place the European Union as the global leader in innovation, decarbonisation and digitisation.
Smarter Europe, through innovation, digitisation, economic transformation and support to smalland medium-sized businesses;
This means embracing innovation, digitisation, decarbonisation and developing people's skills.
A new IndustrialPolicy Strategy would"help our industries stay or become the world leader in innovation, digitisation and decarbonisation.".
As only a handful of EU regions can today lead the way,further investments are needed in innovation, digitisation and decarbonisation.
Moreover, the Commission's"New Industrial Policy Strategy" goal is to make the EU the world leader in innovation, digitisation and decarbonisation.
