In this way,great king, the bhikkhu is endowed with full consciousness and lucid understanding.
Bhaddāli, this circumstance was not recognised by you:‘The Blessed One is living at Sāvatthī, andthe Blessed One will know me thus:“The bhikkhu named Bhaddāli is one who does not fulfil the training in the Teacher's Dispensation.”'.
Whatever a bhikkhu frequently thinks and ponders upon, that will become the inclination of his mind.
Just as a man with good sight when he has ascended to the upper palace chamber, might survey a thousand wheel-rims, so too, with the Divine Eye, which is purified andsurpasses the human, a bhikkhu surveys a thousand worlds.

When a bhikkhu has a good friend, it is to be expected that he will develop and cultivate the Noble Eightfold Path.
It is in this way,Ānanda, that a bhikkhu who has a good friend, a good companion, a good comrade, develops and cultivates the Noble Eightfold Path.
As Bhikkhu Bodhi notes,"The Suttas and commentaries do record a few cases of lay disciples attaining the final goal of Nirvana.
So too, venerable sir,any able-minded bhikkhu, wherever he might scrutinize with wisdom the meaning of this discourse on the Dhamma, would find satisfaction and confidence of mind.
A bhikkhu should not wander about at the wrong time but should walk the village for food at the right time, as one who goes about at the wrong time is(liable to be) obsessed by attachment, therefore Awakened Ones do not walk(for alms) at the wrong time.
