His subsequent theatre drama, Jaathigal Illayadi Pappa was adopted into the film Vedham Puthithu, directed by Bharathiraaja, for which Kannan penned the story and dialogue.[4] After the success of this film, Kannan became popularly known as Vedham Puthithu Kannan.
