Some known side effects include headache(7% of occurrence), eye burning and/or stinging(5%), blurred vision, dry eyes, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, keratitis,eyelid edema, pruritus, asthenia, sore throat(pharyngitis), rhinitis, sinusitis, taste perversion, and vomiting.
Contraindications include: atherosclerosis, Buerger's syndrome, coronary artery disease, hepatic disease,pregnancy, pruritus, Raynaud's syndrome, and renal disease.[8] It's also contraindicated if patient is taking Macrolide antibiotics(eg, erythromycin), certain HIV protease inhibitors(eg, ritonavir, nelfinavir, indinavir), certain azole antifungals(eg, ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole) delavirdine, efavirenz or a 5-HT1 agonist(eg, sumatriptan).
Nasal mometasone is used in adults(including the elderly) and children over two years of age, to diminish the symptoms such as hay fever(seasonal allergic rhinitis) and other allergies(perennial rhinitis), including nasal congestion,discharge, pruritus, and sneezing and to treat nasal polyps.[1].
Cancel the drug and conduct an additional examination is also necessary in the eventof severe pain in the lower abdomen, persistent pruritus, severe depression, severe headaches and migraines, as well as more frequent seizures, a significant increase in blood pressure, sudden changes in speech, hearing or vision.
Side effects can include blood from mouth, skin rashes, dizziness, sedation, shortness of breath, hypersensitivity reaction, fainting(syncope or near syncope), nausea and/or vomiting, confusion, loss of short-term memory, drowsiness, changes in blood, allergic reactions, euphoria, dysphoria,abdominal pain, pruritus(itching), easy bruising, bleeding gums, vivid dreams, dry mouth and addiction.
