For Europe to remain competitive and secure more and better jobs, the transition to a low carbon, resource-efficient society must be carefully planned.
By the same token, we should praise the Green Paper on a European strategy for a sustainable, competitive and secure energy supply.
In a way, the Green Paper on a European strategy for sustainable, competitive and secure energy has given the answers as to how we should proceed in addressing the challenges set out in your question.
(FR) I would like to congratulate my colleague Mrs Morgan on her own-initiative report on the European strategy for sustainable, competitive and secure energy.
The Commission's Green Paper on a European Strategy for Sustainable, Competitive and Secure Energy makes an accurate analysis of the energy supply problems that have recently come to light.
Constantly increasing the use of renewable energy resources is one of the main pillars in European policy to achieve sustainable, competitive and secure energy supplies.
Sustainable, competitive and secure energy will not be achieved without openand competitive energy markets, based on competition between companies looking to become Europe-wide competitors rather than dominant national players.
For us, the latest technology is not just nice to have,it's essential to stay competitive and secure long-term profitable growth.
I am convinced it points the right way forward for a sustainable, competitive and secure energy policy for Europeand one that the Heads of Government would do well to take careful note of when they meet in March to discuss the future of EU energy policy.

(FR) I would like to congratulate Mrs Morgan for the initiative she has taken in drawing up a report on the Green Paper presented by the Commission on a European strategy for sustainable, competitive and secure energy.

The platform, which has been set up by the Commission's in-house science service, the Joint Research Centre(JRC),will contribute to boosting economic growth in the regions by ensuring sustainable, competitive and secure energy supply.
Is it intended to widen the scope of the current agreement or, indeed, to narrow it?How will the Green Paper on a European Strategy for Sustainable, Competitive and Secure Energy, adopted by the Commission in 2006, be reflected in the new agreement?

The European Investment Bank(EIB) plays a very important role in the EU's economy, because it is the guarantor of funding for operations inside Europe that are connected to the following: ensuring economic and social cohesion; preparing for the knowledge economy; developing trans-European transport and access networks; supporting small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs); protecting and improving the environment; and ensuring sustainable, competitive and secure energy.
All this will make aviation markets more competitive and more secure.
The Czech presidency will definitely continue its efforts to provide secure, competitive and sustainable energy for Europe.
The European Council launched an ambitious strategy promoting a secure, competitive and sustainable energy supply for Europe.
The sources that serve the goals of climate change and secure, competitive energy supplies can also be found between the lines.
Unless we remain competitive and can secure strong growth in the future, we will find it increasingly difficult both to maintain a sufficiently high level of social protection internally and to bring Europe's voice to bear on events externally.
