Countries and Eionet The EEA now has 33 member countries and six cooperating countries.
In all there are nearly 400 people involved in Eionet.
The challenge of fully developing EIONET will continue in 1997 and beyond.
EEA and Eionet will work together with the European Commission and other international stakeholders to implement the system.
The EEA is responsible for developing Eionet and coordinating its activities.
EIONET consists now of 18 NFPs(Annex 7), 8 ETCs with 65 ETC-Partners(Annex 6) and 512 MCEs of which 131 are NRCs.
It has been prepared as a joint undertaking in close collaboration with the Eionet, as well as European Commission services.
