In past years,the Republic of Azerbaijan abstained in the voting on the draft resolution entitled"Implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-personnel Mines and on Their Destruction". The reason for that position was the impossibility of our country's signing the Ottawa Convention due to the conflict in and occupation of its territories.
