An Action Plan advisory board was established to supervise implementation of this work, and it endorsed the proposal that the PARIS21 secretariat implement three of these activities:(a) support to strategic planning in statistics;(b) improving the efficiency and effectiveness of household surveys through the International Household Survey Network(IHSN);and(c) an accelerated data programme in pilot countries to make urgent improvements for monitoring national and international development policy, including the Millennium Development Goals.
To strengthen country capacity in producing statistical data relevant for policy design,monitoring and evaluation, the Accelerated Data Program undertakes three main tasks:(a) documentation, preservation and dissemination of existing survey microdata;(b) analysis of existing survey data and assessment of past survey programmes; and(c) development of improved survey programme and data collection.
The subprogramme will organize a training workshop on DevInfo, implement a Development Account project on monitoring the Millennium Development Goals and reducing discrepancies among indicators and carry out four donor-funded projects on the International Comparison Programme, incorporating gender in national statistical systems; the implementation of the 1993 System of National Accounts and its revision, with a special focus on the informal sector andthe system of quarterly national accounts; and the accelerated data programme.

They are aware of serious gaps that still exist in the availability of accurate and up-to-date data and are therefore supporting new global initiatives tofurther improve the availability of such geospatial data, such as through accelerated new data extraction methods making use of space-derived imagery.
