The variance relates to the provision for furniture for the requested four new posts.

In order to provide minimum operational support, the four new posts are required.
Four new posts(1 D-1, 1 P-4 and 2 Field Service) are proposed for the establishment of the Office of Civilian Police in support of the deployment of civilian police to the Mission(see part III above).
Under the circumstances, the Committee, at this stage, recommends four new posts for assets management.
Regarding the four new posts referred to in paragraph IV.20 of the Advisory Committee ' s report(A/50/7), it shared that Committee ' s interest in the description of the functions of the proposed posts. .
For the Witnesses and Victims Support Section,the Advisory Committee notes that four new posts(1 P-4 and 3 Local level) are requested(ibid., paras. 83, 85, 87 and 90).
(e) Four new posts for a Language Assistant(1 NGS) and an Administrative Assistant(1 NGS) in UNOCI, and a Language Assistant(1 NGS) and an Administrative Assistant(1 GS(Other level)) in UNMIS.
The amount of $4,170,800 provides for 22 posts, including four new posts; 1 D-2, 1 P-5, 1 P-2 and 1 General Service(Other level) post and various non-post items.
With regard to the support account, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee had explained that ACABQ hadendorsed the earlier recommendation of the Secretary-General to establish four new posts, to be filled by redeployment.
In the area of human resource management, four new posts have been requested for the implementation of the human resource management strategy; at the same time, the abolition of three posts through efficiency is being proposed.
The increase in post requirements is the combined effect of the delayed impact of the nine new posts(1 P-3, 6 P-2 and 2 General Service(Other level))approved in the biennium 2010-2011 and of the proposed four new posts.
The four new posts are required:(a) to cope with the increased workload of investigative services and for clearing the backlog;(b) to establish an investigation unit in Geneva; and(c) to strengthen the investigative services in Nairobi.
(i) Additional requirement of $1,363,600 for the proposal to establish four new posts(2 D2, 1 D-1 and 1 P-4) and for the conversion of temporary assistance positions to two P-3 established posts under subprogramme 4;
Four new posts(1 P-5, 1 P-4, 1 P-3, 1 GS(OL)) are being proposed in order to provide the needed capacity in the Office of the Legal Council and the Office of the Under-Secretary-General to respond to the requirements of peacekeeping-related legal issues.
To ensure that all documentation processed through this realignment arrangement meet with the requirements of quality standard and timeliness,it is proposed to establish four new posts(2 posts at the P-5 level and 2 posts at the P-4 level) to provide sufficient quality control capacity and to strengthen the revision function.
Total requirements for these four new posts for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2009 are estimated at $534,700, which includes $360,800 in staff costs and $173,900 in nonpost requirements.
Five posts at the P-4 level currently exist within the Budget andPerformance Reporting Service to be incorporated in the new structure and four new posts at the P-4 level are proposed, one of which is a proposed conversion of general temporary assistance to a post at the P-4 level.
XII.29 Four new posts for security trainers, one P-4, one P-3 and two Local level, are proposed to be established in Nairobi to provide support to the African region as part of a regionalized training serviceA/66/6(Sect. 35), paras.
In the proposed programme budget for the biennium 1994-1995,the Secretary-General had requested four new posts to carry out tasks relating to micro-economic issues, including one D-2 post; on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee, the General Assembly had asked the Secretary-General to provide a sufficient number of posts, through redeployment, to carry out the activities relating to micro-economic issues.
The four new posts are proposed for the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and include one P-5 post and one General Service post for the Rapid Deployment Management Unit and one P-3 post and one General Service post for the Training Unit.
In connection with public information capacity, for which four new posts were proposed, the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions noted that it was the first time that a dedicated public information unit had been requested within the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
In addition, four new posts are proposed in the Office of the Director of the Field Personnel Division to service the central review bodies which are to be established to monitor the selection process for filling vacancies in field missions(1 P-4, 1 P-3 and 2 GS(Other level)).
Four new posts are proposed at headquarters for a deputy director in the Office of Audit and Performance Review, a director for the newly established Legal Support Office, an ethics adviser to lead the newly established function and a senior coordinator for policy in the Bureau for Development Policy.
Four new posts are envisaged in the subprogramme on shelter and sustainable human settlements development, including a Chief of the Water, Sanitation and Infrastructure Branch(D-1) and Human Settlements Officers in the areas of slum upgrading(P-3), urban governance(P-2) and urban environment(P-2).
(b) Four new posts for the Guidance and Organizational Design Section(2 P-3 and 2 GS(Other level)) in connection with the exercise of the newly delegated authority from the Office of Human Resources Management for the classification of mission posts up to and including the D-1 level;
Four new posts are also requested for the Africa I and the Asia and Middle East Divisions for a Principal Officer/team leader for each Division(2 D-1), to manage the operational team and an Administrative Assistant(2 GS(Other level)) to provide support to the Principal Officer(see A/61/858/Add.1, para. 99).
Four new posts in headquarters result from General Assembly resolution 63/250 on human resources management, including United Nations contractual reform and the required conversion of appointments of limited duration to fixed-term appointments, given that the functions performed are of a core and continuing nature.
In terms of posts, the proposals under this section comprise four new posts, including two P-3 and one General Service(Other level)posts for the Information Technology Services Division required in the context of the information and communications technology strategy, and one P-2/1 post for the Archives and Records Management Section to accommodate the workload associated with expansion of the digital archiving at the Secretariat.
