Since the tenth progress report(A/53/573 and Add.1), many new developments have taken place, the Integrated Management Information System(IMIS) has been institutionalized and is being implemented at all major duty stations, and its maintenance has been fully assumed by United Nations staff.
The Secretary-General takes note of the findings and, as requested by the General Assembly in its resolution 52/214 of 18 December 1998,will submit comments on the report in an addendum to the tenth progress report on IMIS(A/53/573). A/53/829.
As mentioned in the tenth progress report, a study was initiated in mid-October 1998 within the framework of the working group on IMIS as part of the Task Force on Common Services in order to prepare a comprehensive report outlining possible alternatives for the creation of a common service.
The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 5406th meeting, held on 31 March 2006 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations,having before it the tenth progress report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Mission in Liberia(S/2006/159).

Mr. Connor(Under-Secretary-General for Management), introducing the addendum to the tenth progress report of the Secretary-General on the Integrated Management Information System(IMIS)(A/53/573/Add.1), said that the numerous progress reports and analyses of IMIS confirmed that the system worked; in fact, it was used every day by hundreds of staff worldwide.

On 24 March, after a private meeting held with troop-contributing countries to UNMIL, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Liberia, Alan Doss,briefed the Council on developments on the ground and presented the tenth progress report of the Secretary-General on UNMIL(S/2006/159), in which was provided an update on major developments in the country and recommendations on a drawdown plan for UNMIL, including specific benchmarks and a tentative schedule, as requested by the Council in resolution 1626(2005).
