In June 2006, the Human Rights Council decided to extend exceptionally for one year the mandates and mandate-holders of the special procedures of the Commission(Council decision 1/102).
The mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar was established by the Commission on Human Rights in its resolution 1992/58 and extended most recently by the Human Rights Council, in its decision 1/102,in which the Council decided to extend, exceptionally for one year, the mandates and mandate holders of the special procedures of the Commission on Human Rights.
In its decision 1/102,the Human Rights Council decided to extend exceptionally for one year, subject to the review to be undertaken by the Council in conformity with General Assembly resolution 60/251, the mandates and mandate-holders of the Subcommission.
The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the members of the General Assembly the report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Sudan, Sima Samar, submitted in accordance with Human Rights Councildecision 1/102, in which the Council decided to extend, exceptionally for one year, the mandates and the mandate holders of the special procedures of the Commission on Human Rights.
