In this process, the responsible authorities of other Member States and Europol would also be consulted andwould receive access to the relevant additional information or documentation, if they are responsible for data having triggered a hit in the course of the cross-checking of other information systems.

Market surveillance authorities shall, on receipt of a duly motivated request from a market surveillance authorityin another Member State, provide any relevant information or documentation and carry out checks, inspections or investigations and report on them and on any follow-up action taken to the requesting authority.

The holder shall indemnify and keep indemnified the competent body and its authorised agents against any loss, damage or liability sustained by the competent body, or its authorised agents, as a result of a breach of this contract by the holder or as a result of reliance by the competent body on information or documentation provided by the holder, including any claims by a third party.

Where information or documentation to be submitted by economic operators isor appears to be incomplete or erroneous, or where specific documents are missing, contracting entities may, unless otherwise provided for by the national law implementing this Directive, request the economic operators concerned to submit, supplement, clarify or complete the relevant information or documentation within an appropriate time limit, provided that such requests are made in full compliance with the principles of equal treatment and transparency.
In such exceptional cases, it may be necessary to request additional information or documentation from the applicant, to process that additional information or documentation and, following examination of the information or documentation provided by the applicant, to invite him or her to an interview.
Where information or documentation to be submitted by economic operators isor appears to be incomplete or erroneous or where specific documents are missing, contracting authorities may, unless otherwise provided by the national law implementing this Directive, request the economic operators concerned to submit, supplement, clarify or complete the relevant information or documentation within an appropriate time limit, provided that such requests are made in full compliance with the principles of equal treatment and transparency.
In exceptional circumstances andas a last resort after processing the additional information or documentation, when serious doubts remain regarding the information or documentation provided by the applicant, the ETIAS National Unit of the Member State responsible may invite the applicant to an interview in his or her country of residence at its consulate located the nearest to the place of residence of the applicant.
