From that first conversion followed many others by Arup Associates& Ove Arup& Partners; Malt Houses, Corn Exchanges, Dock Buildings, Churches, Opera Houses and a Cathedral. Some of these buildings have been restorations, whilst others have been converted to entirely new uses. All have used steel as a very necessary part of their restoration and reconstruction and three buildings have been chosen to illustrate this theme.
