This Conference organised by ICFTU has become some sort of tradition in the context of WTO Ministerials.
ETUS was created in 1958 by the ICFTU.

The ICFTU has developed an action plan to fight racism and discrimination, and it is campaigning for the ratification of the UN convention on migrant workers, as well as of the ILO conventions n° 97, on migration for employment, and n° 143, on the migrant workers.
Considering that this law is liable to open the door to arbitrary anddiscriminatory practices, the ICFTU has registered a complaint with the ILO, citing violation of ILO Convention No 111.

In its 1992 report on violations of trade union rights theInternational Confederation of Free Trade Unions(ICFTU) expresses the view that America is the most dangerous continent for the defenders of free trade unionism.

The ICFTU, noting that the ACFTU is not an independent trade union organisation and, therefore, cannot be regarded as an authentic voice of Chinese workers, reaffirms its request to all affiliates and Global Union Federations having contacts with the Chinese authorities, including the ACFTU, to engage in critical dialogue.
In July 2000, representatives of 40 multinational companies met with theInternational Conference of Free Trade Unions(ICFTU) and the International Organisation of Employers(IOE) to confirm their commitment to the Global Compact, a voluntary nine-point code for respect of human, labour and environmental rights.

The ICFTU strongly urges the HKSAR Government to abide by its obligation under both UN Covenants, on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and on Civil and Political Rights, as well as to review existing law to make it in line with the covenant instead of creating new offences to limit the freedom of the people of Hong Kong in the name of National Security.

International connections of the Polish trade unions==Since 1986 the NSZZ Solidarnosc belonged to theInternational Confederation of Free Trade Unions(ICFTU, since November 2006 ITUC) and to the World Confederation of Labour(WCL, which in November 2006 became a part of the ITUC), since 1995 to the European Trade Union Confederation(ETUC), and since 1997 to the Trade Union Advisory Committee of the‘Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development' TUAC/OECD.
