Craniosacral therapy has its origins already in1971 in a book by the American doctor John Upledger.
In the Seventies, John E. Upledger, who was a surgeon and an osteopath, reinvented and developed the treatment.
Craniosacral Therapy, also called CST,was originally put together by reputable medical pioneer John E. Upledger.
In 1970, while helping with a surgery concerning the neck, Upledger noticed a stroking motion in what he later identified as the craniosacral system.
Upledger has collected very intense and comprehensive insights with cranio-sacral therapy based on his positive experiences in this weightless environment.
In the 1920s, Dr. William Garner Sutherland discovered that the cranial bone(cranium) and the scranal bone(sacrum) make synchronous rhythmical movements.Dr. John E. Upledger then developed the craniosacral concept in the 1970s-1980s in cooperation with a team of scientists at Michigan State University.
An Osteopathic Physician, Upledger conducted the majority of his research and scientific research at Michigan State University, in which he was working as a biomechanics instructor.
