On 18 June, the Council was briefed in consultations of the whole by the Head of Mission andForce Commander of UNISFA, Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede Tesfay, on the situation in Abyei and the work of UNISFA.

Moreover, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Head of Mission, Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede Tesfay, and the staff of UNISFA for their continued efforts to help to restore normalcy to the Abyei Area, including by promoting reconciliation and peaceful coexistence between the various communities, often under very difficult conditions.

Moreover, I extend my gratitude to Head of Mission, Lieutenant-General Tadesse Werede Tesfay, and the staff of UNISFA for their continued efforts, often under very difficult conditions, to facilitate the peaceful and orderly return of displaced persons and the migration of nomads and create a more secure environment for the resumption of normal civilian activities in the Abyei Area.
