Nicky Scordellis, from the UK,brought the"Jueves de Comida Consciente" movement to Cochabamba while she lived there and together with fellow activists opened up a sister house to the Casa de los Ningunos in Cochabamba, called La Kasa Muyu.

The novel element of Comida Consciente is its focus on integrating awareness of the externalities of food production- environmental, social and economic impacts- with the internal impacts of food consumption on health and spiritual wellbeing.
While many environmental activists might dream of being given a genuine voice in government policy-making processes, the Comida Consciente team has led workshops with the staff of the La Paz city government and has been invited by the Ministry of Health to contribute to the national health policy.
For example, each week at Comida Consciente a different person is the volunteer"invited chef" and many people help out in the kitchen, and receive a plate of lunch in exchange; visitors are also given the option to work in exchange for staying in the guest rooms.
The Casa's members earn a basic income for the different jobs they do- organizing Comida Consciente, overseeing the renting out of the guest room and workshop space, gardening, cleaning, administrative work, and more.
As such, members were able to run it in accordance with their values:serving comida consciente, and using the platform of their food stall to educate people about the environmental impacts of how food is produced.
