Al Jawhara bint Fahd is a daughter of Fahd bin Khalid bin Mohammed and Muda bint Assaf.[1] Her father is a grandson of Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman, half-brother of King Abdulaziz. She received a bachelor's degree in arts and education from the College of Education for Girls in Riyadh.[1].

Fatima's mother was Fatima bint Abduluzza ibn Abi Qays from the Amir ibn Luayy clan,[1] making Huwaytib ibn Abduluzza her maternal uncle.[3] Fatima had two brothers, Habbar and Abdullah, who were early converts to Islam.[6].
The marriage of Al Jawhara bint Musaed and Ibn Saud was arranged by Sara bint Ahmed, Ibn Saud's mother.[1] They were married in 1908 when she was seventeen years old.[2][3][13] She was the fourth spouse of King Ibn Saud.[13][5] It was the only marriage of Ibn Saud to one of the Al Saud members or a close relative.[6][16].
Al Jawhara bint Musaed bin Jiluwi Al Saud(1891- 1919) was one of Ibn Saud's spouses. She was the mother of King Khalid who was the fourth ruler of Saudi Arabia, Prince Muhammad and Princess Al Anoud. Ibn Saud admitted in 1951 that despite he married many times Al Jawhara bint Musaed was his only love.[1].
