There has been a gradual increase in women's participation in the regional and local coordinating councils as well as in the number of senior positions in different autonomous sectors and bodies. The following have been identified as major limitations: political parties putting women in places where they are unlikely to be elected, gender stereotypes that limit women's access to decision-making positions and the unequal use of time.
