We would like to assert the  critical importance of the  early and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Small Island Developing States.
Effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Further Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States was essential.
Recognizing the  urgent need for increased financial andtechnical resources for the  effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation. .
We look forward to the  effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the  Further Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States in the  very near future.
We appreciate the  support of  our friends and development partners andappeal for their continuing commitment to the  proper and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy.
A strong political will andsense of  national ownership was vital to the  effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy, and the  resources available for implementation  should be scaled up.
Recognizing, in this regard,the  urgent need to increase the  level of  resources provided to small island developing States for the  effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy.
We also need to work closely together to ensure full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the  Further Implementation of the  Barbados Programme of  Action and the  Johannesburg Plan of Implementation. .
Recognizing the  urgent need to significantly increase the  level of  resources provided to small island developing States for the  effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation. .
To address these urgent challenges, we call on the  international community to support and contribute to the  full,timely and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for further implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States, which we consider a very important mechanism for achieving the  Millennium Development Goals.
Stresses the  special needs and vulnerabilities of the  small island developing States, and, in this regard,calls for the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the  Further Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States;
Sustainable development was far from attained, and, more than two years on, progress on implementation of the Programme was still slow; and yet small island developing States' achievement of the  Millennium Development Goals depended on effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation. .
With a view to facilitating the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the  Further Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States, as called for in paragraph 10 of the  draft resolution, the  Secretariat will meet additional requirements within existing resources, including by internal redeployment of  resources.
Also reiterates the  importance of  ensuring sufficient and sustainable staffing of the  Small Island Developing States Unit so thatit may undertake its broad range of  mandated functions with a view to facilitating the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation; .
To call for the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the  further implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States and in that regard call upon donor countries and international financial and development institutions to provide the  SIDS with the  necessary financial and/or technical assistance to implement the Mauritius Strategy. .
Noting that the  High-level Review meeting on the Implementation of the Mauritius Strategy  highlighted some shortcomings in the  institutional support for small island developing States,as well as other constraints to the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy and the  Barbados Programme of  Action.
Increased international cooperation to ensure the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for small island developing States and the  Brussels Programme of  Action, particularly with regard to the  provision of  adequate financing, capacity-building and technology development and transfer, is critical to supporting the  poverty reduction and sustainable development efforts of the  least developed countries and small island developing States like Tuvalu.
She reiterated the  need to address the  trade-related issues identified for the  fuller integration of  small, vulnerable economies into the  multilateral trading system andcalled for the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy, the  Brussels Programme of  Action and the  Almaty Programme of  Action.
I wish to reiterate the  appeal I made, as Chair of the  Allianceof  Small Island States, to our friends and partners at the  special session on financing for development to continue to assist the  small island developing States in their sustainable development efforts through the  proper and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy.
We recognize the  unique and particular vulnerabilities of  small island developing States and reaffirm our commitment to take urgent andconcrete action to address those vulnerabilities through the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the  Further Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States.
We emphasize the  need for the  full and effective implementation of the  commitments, programmes and targets adopted, particularly those of the  International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States, andfor the  mobilization of the  necessary resources from all sources for the  effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy.
Tonga welcomes the  recognition in the  outcome document of the  special needs and vulnerabilities of  small island developing States andthe  commitment to address those needs and vulnerabilities through full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy adopted by the  International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States and the  Barbados Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States.
Urges the  Secretary-General to ensure that the  Small Island Developing States Unit of the  Department of  Economic and Social Affairs is sufficiently andsustainably staffed to undertake its broad range of  mandated functions with a view to ensuring the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation; .
We recognize the  special needs and vulnerabilities of  small island developing States and reaffirm our commitment to take urgent and concrete action to address those needs andvulnerabilities through the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy adopted by the  International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States,the  Barbados Programme of  Action and the  outcome of the  twenty-second special session of the  General Assembly.
Recalling the  development section of the  2005 World Summit Outcome which, inter alia, recognizes the  special needs and vulnerabilities of  small island developing States and reaffirms the  commitment to take urgent and concrete action to address those needs andvulnerabilities through the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation. .
Reiterates the  importance of  ensuring sufficient and sustainable staffing of the  Small Island Developing States Unit so thatit may undertake its broad range of  mandated functions with a view to facilitating the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation,  and in this regard requests the  Secretary-General to take the  necessary actions;
Under agenda item 54 concerning sustainable development, Mauritius  would introduce a draft resolution entitled"International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States" and, in that connection,requested again adequate staff and equipment at the  level of the  United Nations Secretariat to facilitate the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy.
Notes the  recent efforts to strengthen the  Small Island Developing States Unit in the  Department of  Economic and Social Affairs, and urges the  Secretary-General to ensure that the  Unit is sufficiently andsustainably staffed to undertake its broad range of  mandated functions with a view to ensuring the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation,  within existing resources, including by redeploying resources;
In the  outcome document of the  High-level Review Meeting on the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy  for the  Further Implementation of the  Programme of  Action for the  Sustainable Development of  Small Island Developing States(A/65/L.2), the  General Assembly had requested the  Secretary-General to review shortcomings in the  institutional support for small island developing States,as well as other constraints to the  full and effective implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation  and the  Barbados Programme of  Action.
