The Economic and Social Council, in particular,as well as its functional commissions and other bodies, have benefitted very significantly over the years as a result of the active participation of non-governmental organizations in consultative status who represent a valuable corps of representatives dedicated to the goals of the United Nations as well as to the causes they espouse.
To continue enhancing their coordination and cooperation with the Council, the functional commissions and other subsidiary bodies, in line with relevant General Assembly resolutions, in particular 57/270 B and 61/16, should continue to contribute to the annual ministerial reviews, as appropriate, for example by holding formal debates or panel discussions related to the theme of a particular review.
