Departure for Tche-Tche, Gabú, Bafatá: full day visit.
Two such workshops have been held, on 27 and 28 February,in the regions of Buba and Gabú.
An additional 120 young people received the same training in the regions of Quínara, Gabú and Cachéu.
The two rehabilitated military barracks in the Quebo and Gabú regions were handed over to the Ministry of Defence at an official ceremony on 10 August.

To increase awareness of the need to respect human rights and the role of the police in defending the welfare of civilians, on 1 and 2 June 2006,UNOGBIS organized two seminars for a total of 127 police officers in the regions of Bafata and Gabú.
At a rally held in Gabú on 25 August, Mr. Djaló threatened the President, saying that his refusal to dismiss the Prime Minister would entail violence in the capital, including violence targeting the residence of the President.
In April, UNICEF signed a new agreement with the Government of Japan to fund child survival andbasic education initiatives in the Gabú and Oio regions for $9.6 million over a two-year period.
From October to December 2010, UNIOGBIS andthe Ministry of Defence organized awareness-raising seminars in Bissau, Gabú and Canchungo on the rule of law, human rights, gender, democracy and military justice to enhance the capacity of military officers in the process of consolidating peace and the rule of law; they also recommended the adoption of a code of conduct to prevent impunity and renew public trust in the armed forces.
Three workshops on the role of the police in democracy, human rights, ethics and the use of force andfire arms were organized by the UNOGBIS civilian police unit from 16 to 18 June 2009 for 60 police officers in the regions of Bafatá, Gabú and Buba.
In October and November, UNIOGBIS delivered training to 140 community-based human rights focal points in the regions of Bafatá,Canchungo, Gabú and São Domingos to help them to identify, monitor and report on human rights violations as part of a national human rights monitoring network.
Some pressure groups from the African Party for the Independence of Guinea andCape Verde reinforced their support for the Prime Minister as the leader of the party in a well-attended rally that took place on 30 October in Gabú, in eastern Guinea-Bissau.
In an attempt to promote rapprochement between the President and the Prime Minister, the Minister for Commerce, Botché Candé, and the President's Diplomatic and Political Adviser,Soares Sambú, toured Bafatá and Gabú on 13 and 14 November to sensitize the party's supporters on the need to refrain from speculation and partisanship and to respect the country's institutions.
UNOGBIS, in partnership with the Institute for Women andChildren(Instituto de Mulher e Crança) and with technical support from the United Nations Children's Fund, organized a workshop on the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in Gabú on 5 and 6 November.
It was the last in a series of three seminars for parliamentarians and was followed, on 18 and 19 July, by a seminar on the same subject for 23 civil society organizations. On 15 and 16 August, UNOGBIS human rights and civilian police units conducted an assessment mission to the regional police stations in Farim,Bafatá and Gabú to evaluate and follow up on the training sessions conducted in 2006 on a code of conduct and on the use of force.
In 2005, in order to increase Portuguese fluency, there was an agreement between Guinean officials and Instituto Camões, which already had a center in Bissau, to open centers in other towns of the country: Canchungo, Ongoré, Mansôa,Bafatá, Gabú, Buba, Catió, Bolama, Bubaque, and Quinhamel.
