In fact, particularly at the regional meetings held by the Team for the heads and deputy heads of security and intelligence services, the opinion has been unanimous that the threat continues to grow.
In April, the Monitoring Team held its 9th meeting for heads and deputy heads of intelligence and security services from Algeria, Morocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates. In May, it convened its 3rd meeting on South-East Asia, held in Jakarta with the security services of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
The meeting held in Vienna was the sixth that the Team has convened for the heads and deputy heads of intelligence and security services from selected countries in the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan.
In April, the Team held its eighth meeting for heads and deputy heads of intelligence and security services from Algeria, the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Morocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen and convened its fourth meeting on Somalia, held in Entebbe, Uganda, which was, for the first time, co-chaired by the Coordinator of the Somalia and Eritrea Monitoring Group.
In Vienna in July 2013, the Monitoring Team held its eleventh meeting for heads and deputy heads of intelligence and security services from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
The Team also held its second meeting in Geneva in May 2005 for heads and deputy heads of intelligence and security services of six Arab States, continuing its discussions on the threat posed by Al-Qaida and possible further measures to address them for consideration by the Security Council.
