Chapter 13: Life-saving appliances.
Life-saving appliances may contain.

Assembly and embarkation points for collective life-saving appliances should be adequately lit.

Mixed loading permitted between goods of Class 1 and life-saving appliances of Class 9 UN Nos. 2990 and 3072.
All collective life-saving appliances shall be so stowed that they can be launched as quickly as possible.
We propose the inclusion in the chapter of the following requirements for the embarkation of passengers in collective life-saving appliances.

The candidates are to demonstrate, among other things, that they are able to moor or unmoor vessels, operate technical devices, maintain wires and ropes,use life-saving appliances and protective equipment and operate lifeboats.

The text of chapter 13"Life-saving appliances" was approved, subject to the modifications mentioned in subparagraphs(iv)-(xvi) above.
Life-saving appliances(UN Nos. 3072 and 2990) containing Class 1 goods as equipment may be transported together with the same dangerous goods as contained in the appliances. .
