Mr. Massieu(Mexico) said that, at the International Conference on Financing for Development, Member States had recognized the need for reform of the international financial architecture based on transparency and enhanced participation of developing countries and economies in transition.
Mr. Ruiz Massieu(Mexico) said his delegation hoped that the General Assembly would adopt a resolution in which it decided that non-family duty stations should be designated solely on the basis of security assessments conducted by the Department of Safety and Security.
Mr. Ruiz Massieu(Chair of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions), introducing the related report of the Advisory Committee(A/67/636), said that the report addressed the increasing number and cost of exceptions to the standards of accommodation for air travel.
Mr. Ruiz Massieu(Mexico) said that his delegation concurred with recent comments by the Under-Secretary-General for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women regarding the need for the new Entity to add value by providing stronger leadership and better coordination on gender issues throughout the United Nations system, rather than constituting merely the sum of its predecessors.
