Given the strategic importance of the land border with the Dominican Republic, PNH plans to set up three additional border-crossing units similar to the Malpasse police station, at Ouanaminthe, Belladère and Anse-à-Pitre.
Humanitarian organizations visiting areas close to the border,such as Fonds-Verrettes in the south-east, or Ouanaminthe in the north-east, reported that households that had previously been composed of 4 to 5 persons were now housing between 12 and 15.
