His latest project has proved to be a success:recently the start-up company XRG- Power that was initiated by Thorsteinn Sigfusson showed that their XRG generator could produce electricity from hot water well below boiling point of water.

On 12 December 2000, the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka,Mr. John de Saram, was reappointed Vice-Chairman and the Permanent Representative of Iceland, Mr. Thorsteinn Ingólfsson, was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Working Group.

Thorsteinn Sigfusson(Iceland) insists that technologies of fuel chemistry are also highly underestimated- the first round of the application of biotechnology in the energy industry, with all its successes did not show the potential in this sector.
Now, by giving this splendid award to Professor Thorsteinn Sigfusson Russia has honoured a leader who can play a significant role in this venture.

I also wish to pay tribute to the work done by his predecessor,His Excellency Mr. Han Seung-soo, and Ambassador Thorsteinn Ingolfsson of Iceland and Ambassador Patricia Durrant, Vice-Chairpersons of the Open-ended Working Group on Security Council Reform, for their tireless efforts on this very important issue.
