I am grateful to Mr Mauro for that apt intervention.
On some points my concerns are the opposite of Mr Mauro's.
Madam President, I think that Mr Mauro has described the facts very well.
As Mr Mauro has said, no justification can be found for violence, because violence is, of itself, an evil.
(DE) Mr President,I would like to ask Mr Mauro something.
I believe I am quoting Mr Mauro's words, which I thoroughly agree with.
As Mr Mauro said, the European Union must express its solidarity with the Italian government and show Brazil, a friendly, democratic country, that a mistake has been made.
However, I would like to recommend to Mr Mauro and the House that we formulate it somewhat more precisely.
As Mr Mauro has stressed, this always implies a commitment to meet the Copenhagen conditions, which is another element of broad consensus, and therefore to show full respect for human rights.
Madam President, I would have been only too happy to have listened to Mr Mauro, but he will be able to take the floor after me.
This is how I know Mr Mauro is right: I saw many of these actions for libel, and no one protested.
(IT) Mr President, ladies and gentlemen,I had actually asked to be allowed to speak for a minute to say the same thing as my fellow Member, Mr Mauro, and so I join Mr Mauro in offering my condolences.
I agree with Mr Mauro and others who said that of course, we need to look at the whole region.
Chair of the Financial Stability Committee(FSC)On 3 February 2011 the Governing Council appointed Mr Mauro Grande, Director General of the ECB's Directorate General Financial Stability, as Chairman of the FSC.
(PL) I agree with Mr Mauro that in the fight against the crises, there has not been enough action from the European Union.
The Maltese delegation in the S&D Group will be voting in favour of the motion for resolution on the subsidiarity principle as presented by Mr Mauro, Mr Busuttil and Mr Weber.
In addition, Mr Mauro has asked the Council to act immediately and include the issue on its agenda without further delay, since it is an absolute priority, given that immigrants have also started arriving from Egypt now.

Ladies and gentlemen, as you have just heard from Mr Mauro, a tragic incident has taken place in Afghanistan: six peacekeepers have lost their lives.
I am not Italian, as you can tell when I speak, but the most convincing argument that comes to my mind is the question of what was the matter between 2006 and 2008 when Italy had a leftist government and, of course,at that time- as Mr Mauro has pointed out- everything was fine and dandy.
I know that, unfortunately, Mr Mauro is no longer in his place to hear my reply, but I hope that he is told that I did in my words indeed mention that.
Anyway, Madam President, Commissioner, I, of course, welcome all parliamentary contacts between Europe and Iraq designed to supportthis young democracy and I am also very pleased that my fellow member, Mr Mauro, will soon be presenting a report on the European Union and Iraq to the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
