An Arabic Qur'ân.
The Qur'ân and the Messenger.
Will they not then meditate on the Qur'ân?
This(Qur'ân) is a guidance.
This is nothing else than a Reminder(Dhikr) and plain Qur'ân(that is revealed to him).
Al-Furqan-52: So do not obey the disbelievers, and fight with a mighty fight against them with it(the Qur'ân)!
And do not make haste with the Qur'ân before its revelation is made complete to you!
Al-Ahqaf-29: And We had directed a party of the jinn towards you to listen to the Qur'ân.
Yusuf-2: Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'ân in order that you may be mindful!
This Qur'ân explains to the Children of Israel(both the Jews and the Christians) most of the things concerning which they are at variance.
Al-Isra-89: And certainly We have fully explained in this Qur'ân from every kind of issues(examples).
And We have placed Ekinnet(coverings) on their hearts anda Vakra(heaviness) in their ears to prevent them from comprehending it(the Qur'ân).
And those who disbelieve say,'We will never believe in this Qur'ân nor in(the Books) that preceded it.'.
Al-Jinn-2:“It(Qur'ân) guides to Irshad(the immaterial Maturity), so we have believed in it, and we shall not join anything with our Lord”.
Al-Hijr-9: Surely, We sent down the Zikir(the Qur'ân) and We are surely its Guardian(as well).
In order to approach this topic- that of awaiting the Mahdî- I first embarked upon a study of how the word“to wait” is used in the Qur'ân.
Az-Zukhruf-31: And they said:“Should not this Qur'ân have been sent down to one great man of the two cities”?
This basic vocabulary is composed of key terms denoting important concepts related to one another meaningfully and altogether determining the conceptual structure of reality andexistence projected by them in conformity with the Qur'Ân.
Al-Hashr-21: Had We sent down this Qur'ân on a mountain, you would have seen it humbled, crumbled because of its fear of Allah.
Al-Qalam-51: And those who deny almost knock you down to the ground with their eyes when they hear the Dhikr(the Qur'ân) and they say:“Most surely he is indeed mad”.
Ya Sin-70:(The descent of the Qur'ân) is to warn those who are alive and that the Word(of the Torment) may prove true against the disbelievers.
Al-Jinn-1: Say:“It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened(to the Qur'ân) and they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful, beautiful Qur'ân”.
Moreover they said,'Why has not this Qur'ân been revealed to some man of importance from(either of) the two townships(- Makkah or Tâ'if, the two centres of social and political life).'.
Al-Isra-88: Say:“If the mankind andthe jinn should gather together to bring the like of this Qur'ân, they could not bring the like of it, though some of them were helpers of others.”.
Maryam-97: So We have only made it(the Qur'ân) easy in your tongue that you may give glad tidings thereby to the owners of piety and warn thereby a vehemently contentious people.
This is why Muslim philosophers, theologians and metaphysicians did not reject everything Greek in their thought, for a great many things the Greek philosophers said in metaphysical, ethical andpolitical matters they also found already expressed in the Qur'Ân.
Yunus-61: And you are not in any affair, nor do you recite concerning any portion of the Qur'ân, nor do you do any deed but We are witnesses over you when you are deeply engrossed therein.
Respecting interpretation of the Qur'Ân, from which a new form of Arabic is derived, they have consistently advocated hermeneutic methods whose character depended largely upon learned conjecture and subjective speculation and the notion of historical relativism.
Al-Furqan-32: And those who disbelieve said:“Should not the Qur'ân have been sent down upon him all at once”? This is that We may fix it(the Qur'ân) to your comprehension.
It is significant to note that in the Qur'Ân the major Prophets were not only given the Book, that is al-kitÂb, but also the Wisdom, that is al-? ikmah, which I think explains our accord between revelation and reason.
