They figured out how to do one thing well- in this case, grow one variety of banana, the Gros Michel.
In 1925, the Gros Ventre Slide carved down a mountainside creating Lower Slide Lake.
Not that long ago, the world market was ruled by another banana, the Gros Michel, aka the Big Mike.
By the 1960s, it had driven the Gros Michael banana nearly to extinction, leaving the Cavendish as a substitute.
In fact, today's banana is a blander stand-in for the bananas our grandparents ate,a variety known as the Gros Michel, or“Big Mike.”.
That's because of the campgrounds, ranches and historic, rustic cabins you can find along the Gros Ventre River, around the tiny hamlet of Kelly.
Either way, the Gros Michel was ravaged by the 1950s by an earlier strain of the disease now stalking the Cavendish.

Specifically, the Gros Michel banana, which was the main variety sold in the United States until the 1950s, when it fell victim to the fungal-driven Panama disease.

For example, Zdeněk z Valdštejna, the courtier of King John of Luxembourg, Hynek of Valdštejn, who took part in the 1336 battle of the Czech King in Lithuania, andJan of Wallenstein who borrowed the 1500 kick of the gros of Margrave Charles, later King Charles IV.
Banana producers had to let go of the Gros Michel, and give attention to the feasible substitute- the seedless Cavendish, which could only be reproduced by transplanting the main plant's stem to make a whole couple of clones that are identical.
