In promoting good water governance, as in other areas of our work, an integrated and cross-dimensional approach and international cooperation are crucial to our common success.
Second dimension will address the issues which are partly motivated by our national priorities such as anti-corruption, water governance and disaster risk reduction and preparedness.

Sessions will focus on water governance at different levels, as well as best practices, effective disaster risk reduction and strengthening participation of civil society and the private sector.
The Director of the Environment Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe,Marco Keiner, said:"Participatory and accountable water governance is necessary for well-informed choices and can help prevent or reduce negative effects of investments on development and on water resources.".
Promoting water governance across the OSCE region means promoting cooperation among participating States, as well as with other international organizations, the private sector and civil society.
In this spirit, I would like to once again encourage all of you to contribute your ideas for improving water governance and co-operation, which will help strengthen security for citizens, communities and countries throughout the OSCE region and beyond.
Good water governance should also include a gender and youth perspective to maximize environmental, social and economic benefits while contributing to increased security in the OSCE region.
This disaster, unfortunately,additionally justifies necessity to promote water governance as the main topic for next year's Environmental and Economic Forum and I expect that the decision on that will be adopted this week.

We also believe that advancing co-operation in water governance, would contribute addressing the other environmental issues and follow-up to the disaster risk reduction with respect to water management.
Water governance in the context of foreign and security policies, investments and development assistance and the upcoming Sustainable Development Goals, along with public participation and awareness-raising in water governance are among the issues that will be addressed in this meeting.
