Mr President, I would like to thank all the honourable Members who took the floor.
All the honourable Members who have tabled amendments have in any case adopted a very positive attitude.

I certainly agree with all the honourable Members who have spoken that we need to get closer to the public and help them understand better what is going on in the European Union and in all its institutions.
Madam President, please allow me firstly, as a Spaniard, to thank all the honourable Members who have expressed their solidarity.
Mr President, I would like to thank all the honourable Members who have spoken for their contributions to the debate, which I have found very interesting.
I should like to thank everyone who worked with us on this, especially our own administration, for their correct andvery positive preliminary work, and all the honourable Members who made it possible for us to present a proper result to plenary despite the limited time available.
(EL) Mr President, I should like to thank all the honourable Members who were involved in the work by Parliament on the proposal for a Council recommendation in the field of rare diseases.
That is why two amendments have been tabled and I call on the House to support them, so that Parliament's proposal includes this element of European civilisation andI hope that it will be supported by all the honourable Members who, I see, are using their inactive time and being paid for normal time.
Mr President, I very much wish to thank you and all the honourable Members who have participated in this very important, focused and well-considered debate today.
We have a duty to protect our young people, to protect professional and amateur sportspeople and to protect public health, and in this regard,I would like to emphasise that all the honourable Members who have talked about laboratories, labelling, testing and prevention are absolutely right.
Mr President, I would firstly like to thank all the honourable Members who have contributed to this debate, sometimes with support, sometimes with critical support and sometimes simply with criticism.
Madam President, I would also like to thank the Commission and all the honourable Members who contributed to an impressive debate.
PAPOULIAS, President-in-Office of the Foreign Ministers.-(GR)I would like to thank all the honourable Members who have spoken in the House, both for the passion and for the sincerity with which they expressed their view about the truly unacceptable situation which prevails in South Africa, the barbarous violation of human rights, and the barbarous deeds of the regime.
I would like to express my gratitude for the active participation of all the honourable Members who had direct responsibilities and for the cooperation of everybody who has participated in this work.
Mr President, I would firstly like to thank the rapporteur, Mr Sterckx,as well as all the honourable Members who have spoken, for their active cooperation in the debate which has resulted in the report that we are discussing today.
The honourable Members who have risen bear all of the political responsibility for this.
I would also like to thank the honourable Members who spoke for all the analyses they put forward, which were very useful and completely appropriate to the importance of the region.
I believe that this can, moreover,be interpreted as support by all the parliamentary groups and all the honourable Members, including those who, like Mr Kamall, in his extraordinary speech, supported the popular legislative initiative because, in his opinion, it will weaken the European Union.
Mr President, I would like to begin by thanking Mr Lipietz for his work as rapporteur for this report and all the honourable Members of Parliament who have spoken and who have been involved in debating and discussing it before today's plenary session for the contributions they have made to it, and I would naturally also like to congratulate the President of the European Central Bank, Mr Trichet, on the excellent quality of the report we are debating today.
I have faith in the crusade referred to by Mrs Miguélez Ramos, and I believe that I am not alone, butthat I am accompanied by all the honourable Members and many people outside who have the same concerns as me.
This is indeed the Commission's job, but I should like to add, if I may, that all of us are responsible for doing this:it is also the responsibility of Parliament, the honourable Members, national parliaments, of all those who have Europe's interests at heart and those who feel the necessity to explain the added value that Europe brings.
Therefore, it was decided to publish the second edition already during 1993 andI hereby invite the honourable Member and all those who can provide additional information to be included in the second edition to contact the Directorate General for Fisheries as soon as possible.
I was unable to give the honourable Member who asked the first question all the information he would have liked, but I have tried- as I am sure that my successors will try- to be as open on this as possible.
President.- My thanks to President Friedmann,Commissioner Liikanen and all honourable Members who have spoken in the debate.
I say that emphatically and with conviction, andI would like to reassure all honourable Members who, to judge by a letter I have received, may have felt they did not entirely understand our intentions.
As I already announced- and in order toreassure Mr Cancian and all the other honourable Members who have voiced concern about the overly long timescales- I can confirm that we will try to present our work ahead of schedule.
ORTIZ CLIMENT(PPE), rapporteur.-(ES) Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I should like to thank Parliament,the Committee on Agriculture and all honourable Members who have made it possible to deal urgently in this Assembly with such an important subject as the future of many regions, many Mediterranean countries, which grow citrus fruits.
It is a crazy situation to put us in so I beg all honourable Members who have any influence on these matters to recognise that, if we are to be serious about the reform process, then you have to give us the opportunity to demonstrate whether we can be as good as our word or not.
On behalf of the Presidency, let me thank all those honourable Members who have participated today, pay tribute to the contribution of the Commission earlier in the debate and express my gratitude for the points raised in what I believe will continue to be an important subject and focus of our work in the remaining months of our Presidency.
