And when it is said unto them: follow that which Allah hath sent down, they say: nay! we shall follow that which we found our fathers upon.

When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy(they are heedless).

And when it is said unto them: come to that which Allah hath sent down and to the apostle, they say: enough for us is that whereon we found our fathers.

And when it is said unto them: Come unto that which Allah hath revealed and unto the messenger, they say: Enough for us is that wherein we found our fathers.

And when it is said unto them: Believe in that which Allah hath revealed, they say: We believe in that which was revealed unto us. And they disbelieve in that which cometh after it, though it is the truth confirming that which they possess.
Când li se spune:“Credeţi în ceea ce Dumnezeu a pogorât!, ei spun:“Credem în ceea ce a pogorât asupra noastră!”, însă tăgăduiesc ceea ce a venit după aceea, deşi acesta este Adevărul care întăreşte ceea ce ei au deja.

And if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What!

Verily when it was said Unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked.

And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said Unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season.
Aşa a fost şi cu tamudiţii când li s-a spus:“Bucuraţi-vă o vreme!”.

And it was said unto them: come ye, fight in the way of Allah or defend. They said: if we knew it was to be a fair fight We would surely have followed you.

And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
Şi se va întâmpla că, în locul unde li s-a spus: Voi nu sunteţi poporul meu, acolo li se va spune: Sunteţi fiii Dumnezeului cel viu.

And when it was said unto them: Dwell in this township and eat therefrom whence ye will, and say"Repentance," and enter the gate prostrate; We shall forgive you your sins; We shall increase(reward) for the right-doers.
Li s-a spus:“Locuiţi în această cetate, mâncaţi din roadele ei de oriunde vreţi. Spuneţi: “Iertare!” şi intraţi pe uşă, prosternându-vă.

And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
